This is what the start of an upcycling project really looks like: around 180 square metres of disused tarpaulins, folded and bundled on a pallet, complete with tension straps, eyelets and the signs of years of use. From this stack, 150 ‘pro:cargo’ bags were produced for MAN ProfiDrive.
The hard work lies in the sorting process. Each strip is inspected, cleaned and checked for usable sections before being cut to size. Anything that is too badly damaged is discarded. The bright yellow sections were used for the flaps, whilst the anthracite-coloured material was used for the body and sides. As each cut-out is positioned differently, the edge where the yellow meets the grey runs differently on every bag.
The red label sums up the story: „Driven by professionals. Crafted from originals." It also features a serial number – 128 out of 150 – and a QR code that allows the recipient to find out where their unique piece comes from.
