Canvas. Textured canvas.
In German, ‘canvas’ simply means ‘sailcloth’ – and that is exactly what it originally was. The difference between canvas and ordinary cotton fabric lies not in the raw material, but in the construction: canvas is woven in a particularly dense plain weave using thicker yarns. Whereas a classic cotton bag weighs around 140 g/m² and collapses softly, canvas weighs between 280 and 400 g/m², stands up on its own and retains its shape and edges. This makes it the ideal material for bags that are meant to look worn rather than folded.
